Child Counselling is offered to children over the age of five. Counselling can be beneficial for children when:

  • Children are having difficulty with strong emotions like anger, sadness, fear or just being ‘stuck’

  • Children are finding it difficult to make friends, feel confident and self-assured

  • Specific behaviours at home or school need attention

  • Domestic violence occurs

  • Physical, sexual or emotional abuse occurs

  • Families break up

  • Parents separate/divorce

A range of emotional release, expressive and play therapies are used when working with children to help them talk about their issues, feel better about themselves, express their emotions safely and appropriately, build relationship skills and problem solve.

Julie is an experienced child and adolescent counsellor who holds a current Blue Card. At the time of making an appointment for child counselling parents will be asked to attend the first session initally unaccompanied by their child in order to discuss the issues of concern.
